Remove friendlist limit
I've found myself in the situation where I want to add someone to my friends list, but then the message comes up saying I can't add any more people because it's full. So I was wondering if it could be removed. Myself, I don't see the point of that limit anyways.

Indeed, should have been implemented with the mutual friends / location display update imo.

What I don't understand is WHY they put a limit on it.

It's a pain in the ass. I'd also like to see a "Last signed on:" feature with it as well. Would be helpful when wanting to do a spring clean of one's list.

i have 150+ people that i speak to at least every week. Then there are other 200 or so older/inactive friends that i speak to on occasion when they are online. I can fit almost none of them on my friendslist and its a joke. Particularly since the mutual friends feature came into effect, and now i get pm'd 30 times a day asking why i dont have them in my list. I SIMPLY DONT HAVE SPACE.
My friendslist has basically been overflowing for the last 3-4 years, and its one of the most annoying features of this game. Particularly PvP players, and i presume for speed clear groups its the same, when you play with the same pool of people regularly, you end up with a LOT of friends.
to have less than 50 friends (assuming u've played this game for a while) you would have to be pretty dam unsociable. I can understand limiting it somewhere to save some server space, because some people would literally add thousands, but 50 is incredibly low and its a real inconvenience.

Yeah, They should have extended the list when they did the friends list update.
I've seen a LOT of drama about why people aren't on each other's friend list and it's a little bit too much. I wish Anet would let you turn that feature off but I guess something's better than nothing.

Keep making new friends, but nowhere to put the old ones.
And just don't got the heart to delete them. T_T

Me !
After 5 years play I have 2 friends who are still playing and these are real life friends as well.
A large number of Guildies and Alliance members and of those I know maybe 6 or 7 I am friends with them but don't see the need to list them I can check the guild list for who is online.
Lots of people get put on the friends list for a while but when I forget who they are and why they are there I remove them.
Nothing worse than having a name hanging around on friends and you have to go ask them who the heck they are.
Now an unlimited ignore list I would want so once I come across some nasty piece of work I can block them forever.

Or you just prefer to keep a few closer friends.
Not saying you can't have many friends and close friends, but you don't have to be unsocial just because you keep fewer friends.
I've played for over 4 years and never even been close to 50, but I do talk with various people and join things with my guild so don't think I am that unsocial.
I will /sign this though, because I don't see any harm in adding it even if I will never need it, and because many seemingly will like this.

Well presumably for every friend you have the server must query their status and what area they are in (if online), so removing the limit entirely would be a bad idea. Increasing it to something like 300 though should be good i think.

If you're a GL in a full alliance, the 50 friend list limit is very easy to hit. Heck 5 guilds could fill it up, and that's just officers.
It's such an obvious thing that I tend to think there must be a technical or limited resource reason for it. Be nice if they could expand it though.

Increasing the limit as mike suggested would be a good compromise I'd say.

If this was possible I bet they would have done it already. Probably because of storage constraints.
But I would be happy enough if there was a way to save extra entries over the 50 in your own systems, like Templates.
Thanks to things like DropBox or Skydrive, saving templates across computers is very easy, and so will extra 'contacts' saved externally.
This way those that do not want to be stalked could also have the option for adding people as 'contacts' instead as 'friends', so only the 50 actual friends get to stalk you, and the remaining friends are stored in a contact list which limit is only your disk capacity.

/Signed It's ridiculous to have to keep a notepad of names and enter them to see if I can guest ppl / get a game in.
F list needs a big limit increase - it's a MMORPG after all, and its crap to keep shuffling ppl on and of it based on their acivity.

You have to cut storage somewhere when it comes to programming. The current list is a reasonable amount in my opinion, or if they do increase only do it a slight bit more and not limitless. In all fairness most of the people on my list have quit the game or no longer in contact with me really so are you telling me you keep up to date with all of those people all the time, then welldone
